Information Security Intern – Remote Internship

About the Role

Are you passionate about protecting sensitive data, ensuring compliance, and mitigating security risks? We are looking for an Information Security Intern to assist in risk assessments, security audits, and policy development. This internship provides hands-on experience in data protection, security frameworks, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting security audits and risk assessments
• Monitor and analyze security incidents and vulnerabilities
• Research and apply best practices for information security policies and compliance
• Help implement data encryption, access controls, and security monitoring
• Work with SIEM tools to track security logs and detect threats
• Assist in incident response and security awareness training
• Stay updated on cybersecurity regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST, etc.)

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of network security, encryption, and security protocols
• Familiarity with risk management and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team

Preferred Skills (Not Required but a Plus)

• Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, ELK Stack)
• Understanding of threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and security controls
• Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions
• Certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISSP (entry-level), or CISM are a plus
